Tens of thousands of New Yorkers lined both sides of 5th Avenue on Sunday to celebrate the annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade (NPRDP). The parade route ran from 44th on up to 79th Street all afternoon. The weather was great and the crowd was enthusiastic, wildly cheering the various marching groups as they passed by. There were labor unions, healthcare organizations, food related companies, radio stations, dance schools and many more represented. The Mayor, the Governor and other elected officials and candidates came out to support the parade and the City’s large community of P.R. connected residents. A small army of NYPD kept their watchful eyes on the parade as thousands of bike racks kept viewers mostly confined to the sidewalks.

“Great to be here for the 69th Puerto Rican Day Parade as we celebrate the one million Puerto Ricans who call New York State home. We’re really proud to be here to march once again, to show our pride in the heritage and the story of resilience that comes from the great Puerto Rican people who are New Yorkers. This is an extraordinary day for all New Yorkers whether you’re Puerto Rican or not, we are all Knicks fans in this state and in this country right now. And I think of the Knicks and their journey to where they came to last night as truly the quintessential New York story.” ~Governor Hochul
