The art world was stunned today when it learned of plans for a brand new MAGA Museum in a yet-to-be-built wing of Maralago in the state of Florida. Beyond the surprise inherent in the notion of MAGA art, one particular detail jumped out. According to “sources,” former Trump advisor Steve Bannon has been secretly working on a project with some of the world’s finest craftsmen.
Evidently, the school for training Right Wing radicals that he was operating out of a medieval Italian monastery was just a cover story for the real project: a re-imagining of the famous Unicorn tapestries which are on permanent display at Inwood’s Met Cloisters.
Flemish weavers (and bobbers) have reportedly recreated the legendary series with one important distiction: in the new version, the white, one horned, horse-like creature who was hunted down and captured in the originals has been replaced by one with the visage of Trump, who many MAGA devotees swear was hunted by the LYING PRESS! and RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS! in a series of baseless WITCH HUNTS!
No date was given for either the completion of the project or the opening of the MAGA Museum, but at press time a GoFundMe had already been set up to collect donations for the Museum and for Bannon personally. It’s called COVER THE WALL! and contributors *may* see their name woven into the finished tapestries…according to”sources.”
The Gazette was able to get hold of a leaked photo of one of the new rugs and we’re delighted to share it with you today, April Fools Day.
