What: Wind Advisory
Where: NYC
When: 10 PM on 10/16 to 6 PM on 10/17
Hazards: Possible sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph & gusts in excess of 50 mph.
Preparedness Actions: Use caution when walking, biking, or driving high profile vehicles.
Before an Outage
– Charge cell phones
– Gather supplies
– Turn refrigerator/freezers to a colder setting
During an Outage
– Stay clear of downed power lines
– Turn off all appliances
– Keep refrigerator/freezer doors closed to prevent food spoilage
– Do not use generators indoors
– If you have a disability/access needs, or use Life Sustaining Equipment (LSE) and need immediate assistance, dial 911

What: Areal Flood Advisory
Where: NYC
When: Until 10 PM on 10/16
Hazards: Heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Preparedness Actions: Do not drive your vehicle or walk into areas where water covers the roadway as the water depth may be too great to allow you to cross safely.
