July 20, 2019
By mid-morning the mercury was already in the mid-nineties and it only got hotter from there.
At least we’re not in Toms River!
Last evening the numbered subway lines all went down for about an hour stranding millions of commuters in hot trains and tunnels as they tried to get home from work. Overnight, NotifyNYC sent multiple email alerts warning of unhealthy air, dangerous heat, and a reminder to get a spray cap if you’re going to turn on a fire hydrant. Everybody complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it, right?
Or maybe not…
AIR CONDITIONED, INSIDE – COME ON OUT – FASHION ON THE HUDSON RUNWAY SHOW – JULY 20, 2019
They had us at the subject line. And then this:
“We have AIR CONDITION INSIDE CULTURAL CENTER, COME ON OUT AND ENJOY, Bathrooms are clean and they even have an afforable fast food place right in the park.
“Don’t let the heat control your fun, we can’t wait to see you.
“Fashion on the Hudson, TODAY July 20 at Riverbank State Park, 679 RSDrive at West 145th Street inside the AIR CONDITIONED CULTURAL CENTER.”
Oh what the heck? We took the bait. The swimsuits and sunglasses collections were underway as we settled in. Unfortunately, the event staff wasn’t too hot about photojournalists wandering around willy nilly searching for the perfect angle, so we just chilled awhile before heading back out into the heat.
