Inwood Art Works and New York Restoration Project are excited to announce their first collaboration in presenting the FREE outdoor cinema series: Film Works Alfresco – Sherman Creek! The theme of this curated summer film series is “Superheroes” and puts the spotlight on classic, present-day, and new films. Featuring: Black Panther (2017), Sky High (2005), Superheroes (2011), and Superman (1978). Screenings will also feature special opening live music acts by local artists and will occur the first four Thursday evenings in August at Sherman Creek. This seasonal cinema series expands public access to professional filmmaking in Northern Manhattan and presents as diverse an array of films as the community it serves.
EXHIBITION SCHEDULE AND FILM INFORMATION:
Black Panther – Thursday, August 2, 2018 – 154 Minutes (2018) – 7:15pm. Pre-show featuring live music, spoken word, slam poetry and interactive electronics by Paracademia.
T’Challa returns home to Wakanda, a technologically advanced hidden African nation, and must unleash the power of the Black Panther to defend his right to the throne and to protect the people of Wakanda.
Sky High – Thursday, August 9, 2018 – 110 Minutes (2005) – 7:00pm. Pre-show featuring an interactive family program exploring the use of music in classic superhero and adventure movies by Listen Closely.
The son of the famous super couple Commander and Jetstream has huge expectations going into superhero school. Will Stronghold struggles to discover his identity in Sky High that will determine if he is a hero or a sidekick.
Superheroes – Thursday, August 16, 2018 – 90 Minutes (2011) – 7:00pm Pre-show featuring rock, opera, and other super styles of songs by Hey Buddy!
This comedic action-packed documentary tells the tale of modern civilians who dress up as “superheroes” and take on real life criminals in order to bring peace to their communities.
Superman – Thursday, August 23 – 143 Minutes (1978) – 7:00pm. Pre-show featuring an evening of classical and jazz selections by the Calliope Brass Trio.
Earth finds itself in the presence of an alien orphan sent from the dying planet Krypton. He is adopted by the Kent’s who raise him to be the world’s greatest superhero, Superman.
