A day after tiki torch toting neonazis and white nationalists descended on Charlottesville, VA for a “Unite the Right” weekend that left 3 dead and dozens injured, hundreds of protesters gathered outside Trump Tower. James Alex Fields Jr. allegedly drove a car into a crowd of counter protesters killing Heather Heyer on Saturday. Two Virginia police also lost their lives when their chopper crashed. Originally timed to coincide with a rare visit by President Trump to his namesake Manhattan residence, the protest followed his condemnation of violence committed by “many sides.”

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence, on many sides. On many sides. It’s been going on for a long time in our country.”

After a brief flurry of police activity around 6PM word filtered down that the President wasn’t coming today after all. By 7 the protesters had dispersed and 5th Avenue was reopened to traffic. An NYPD officer said the President is now expected to come on Monday.
