Her diverse body of work spans painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, multimedia, and installation art. At the same time, her work radiates warmth, healing, and hope, making it a gift of miracles to those who experience it.
A Life of Generosity and Dedication
Beyond her artistic achievements, Wonsook Kim has devoted her life to philanthropy and giving back to the community. She established an adoption foundation to support children in need, contributed substantial scholarships to ensure students facing financial difficulties could continue their education at City College of New York, and has extended her support to single mothers in prisons and communities in Africa. Her generosity is a quiet yet powerful force, touching countless lives.
Her husband, Thomas Park Clements, was the first adoptee of Holt Children’s Services in Korea and the founder of Korean American Story. He is a prolific inventor of numerous laparoscopic surgical devices and continues to contribute to society by pursuing further studies at Harvard Medical School, even after retirement.

Wonsook Kim’s artistic achievements have been internationally recognized. The University of Illinois honored her by naming a college after her, now known as the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts. She was also selected as the UN’s Artist of the Year for its 50th anniversary, with her work being featured on a commemorative postage stamp. Since coming to the United States in the 1960s as an international student, she has established herself as one of the most distinguished Korean artists in the mainstream art world. Her art has a quiet yet profound ability to offer solace and comfort to viewers.
