Supersized Supermarket

When the Rite Aid on Broadway near West 207 closed, speculation was rife concerning what would take its place, and when. We now know the answer. Inwood’s beloved C-Town Supermarket is in the process of expanding into the humongous space adjacent to their existing store at 4918 Broadway. Shoppers have already been checking it out for awhile now and, frankly, it looks great. The thing that stands out is the more spacious produce space. There’s also a new flower stand outside the annex, right next to the liquor store. Wine and roses, anyone?

Feel like a fruit?

For the time being, if meat and potatoes are your thing, you’ll need to visit both the original store and the new annex to complete your compra. But that may be changing soon. A sign on the door reads, “We are in the process of submitting plans to open up the two spaces and complete the expansion.”

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
