The Dominican Film Festival in New York returns to kick off its 11th edition on November 1st with a double opening-night screening: the Katherine Castro short film “Weak,” followed by the international premiere of “El App” (The App), directed by Tabaré Blanchard, starring producer and actor Isaac Saviñon. Following the films, the actors and producer will attend a Q&A session.

Synopsis:

Jackie (Isaac Saviñón) is one of the world’s most renowned hackers and now he has developed his masterpiece, an application that allows anyone to hack into any social media account and get all the information just by using that person’s phone number. If deleted, the App can recover this information. The sheer essence of this app opens up the possibility of creating global chaos should it fall into the wrong hands. Once its existence is made public in an online post, Jackie’s life is in danger.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the Cultural Immigrant Initiative and New York City City Council.
