Extreme Heat Forecast

This is an important message from NY Alert

Feels-like temperatures are forecast to reach between 95 and 99 degrees in Albany, Broome, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, and Washington Counties tomorrow, Friday, July 25, 2025.

Feels-like temperatures are forecast to reach between 100 and 105 degrees in the Bronx, Dutchess, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Ulster, and Westchester Counties. Some localized areas may see peak temperatures up to 110 degrees late Friday morning into the early evening.

The dangers of heat can affect everyone. If possible, stay out of the sun and stay in air conditioning. Drink plenty of fluids, preferably water. Continue monitoring updates to the forecast by visiting weather.gov then search for your zip code.

Keep children and pets in air conditioning if possible. IF OUTSIDE: wear light-colored loose clothing and a hat. NEVER leave children or pets in a car.
If you have signs of heat stroke, seek medical attention immediately. Signs of a heat stroke are:
•    Extremely high body temperatures.
•    Red, hot, and dry skin with no sweat.
•    Rapid, strong pulse.
•    Dizziness, confusion, or unconsciousness.

Extreme heat is defined as when there are 2–3 days in a row of intense heat and humidity with temperatures 90 degrees or above. This includes days when the temperature “feels like” it is that hot, based on the air temperature and relative humidity.

Extreme heat is the number one weather-related cause of death in the United States. There has been a steady increase in heat-related fatalities over the last few years. 2023 had the highest number of heat related fatalities ever recorded. Take action now to prepare!
