NYC Police Commissioner Edward Caban resigned on Thursday after leading the NYPD for just over a year. Citing “distractions” that news reports about ongoing Federal investigations are causing, Caban said he was leaving  for the good of the City and the NYPD. Caban hasn’t been charged with any wrongdoing, although his phone was reportedly seized recently in a Federal investigation. Caban replaced Keechant Sewell and will now be replaced by Thomas Donlon, a former FBI agent who investigated the 1993 WTC bombing. Mayor Adams, accepted his resignation, saying he respects Caban’s decision and wishes him well. Caban joined NYPD in 1991 and was initially assigned to the Bronx.
