Gone, just like that. The fruit stand on the corner of W 207th Street and Broadway has vanished. The stand operated all through the pandemic even offering free produce to anyone who couldn’t afford to pay. The stand’s owner was the first of several Local Heroes honored by the Gazette for their community service during the global health crisis. One rumor today suggested that the City authorities shut them down, but that’s unconfirmed. The Gazette intends to find out what really happened and will update this story when we do.

Update: The stand is back and open for business. It appears the canopy was replaced and the partition between the fruit stand and the street has been removed.
