El presidente Luis Abinader y el alcalde Manuel Jiménez inauguraron este domingo los IV
Juegos Deportivos de Santo Domingo Este, en los que participarán, del 3 al 17 de diciembre,
más de cuatro mil atletas en 11 disciplinas.
El acto inaugural se llevó a cabo en el pabellón de tenis del Parque del Este, en presencia de
cientos de niños y jóvenes inscritos para competir en las categorías de baseball, baloncesto,
boxeo, natación, voleibol, fútbol, balonmano, softbol, y otras disciplinas.
Se trata de la segunda entrega consecutiva de los Juegos Deportivos organizados por la gestión
del alcalde Manuel Jiménez, en esta ocasión dedicada al presidente Luis Abinader y coordinada
por el periodista y gestor deportivo Persio Maldonado, en su calidad de presidente del Comité
Organizador.
En el evento el presidente Luis Abinader, el alcalde Manuel Jiménez, el director de Deportes de
la Alcaldía, Roberto Neris, y Persio Maldonado encendieron el pebetero que deja iniciadas las
competencias y exhortaron a los participantes a competir abrazados a los mejores valores
deportivos y patrióticos.
El alcalde Manuel Jiménez invitó a toda la comunidad a disfrutar y apoyar los juegos que se
llevarán a cabo en instalaciones deportivas de todo el municipio.

Lighting the Torch
President Luis Abinader and Mayor Manuel Jiménez inaugurated this Sunday the IV
Santo Domingo Este Sports Games, in which they will participate, from December 3 to 17,
more than four thousand athletes in 11 disciplines.
The opening ceremony took place in the Parque del Este tennis pavilion, in the presence of
hundreds of children and young people registered to compete in the categories of baseball, basketball,
boxing, swimming, volleyball, soccer, handball, softball, and other disciplines.
This is the second consecutive delivery of the Sports Games organized by the management
by Mayor Manuel Jiménez, on this occasion dedicated to President Luis Abinader and coordinated
by the journalist and sports manager Persio Maldonado, in his capacity as president of the Committee
Organizer.
At the event, President Luis Abinader, Mayor Manuel Jiménez, the Sports Director of
the Mayor’s Office, Roberto Neris, and Persio Maldonado lit the cauldron that started the
competitions and urged the participants to compete embracing the best values
sporting and patriotic.
Mayor Manuel Jiménez invited the entire community to enjoy and support the games that were held.
They will take place in sports facilities throughout the municipality.
