“If we’re going to make real systemic change in this country, we must fully confront the realities of our criminal justice system. My heart breaks for the Nichols family. No family should ever have to endure this pain and suffering, but unfortunately, far too many here in the U.S. have. The behavior of these officers was undoubtedly repulsive and inhumane, and I commend the Memphis authorities for their swift actions to ensure full transparency and accountability in this case. We come together at this difficult time to embrace the Nichols family and ask for healing and peace following this tragedy.”
