The concert, a highlight of this week’s continuing Feria Internacional del Libro in Santo Domingo, featured real police officers singing and dancing their way through a blistering, hour-long set on Thursday night. Four police men and women and their very talented band of fellow musicians had hundreds of music lovers in the audience on their feet cheering them on, song after song, in the Capital’s Zona Colonial. They are the Orquesta San Juda Tadio de La Policia National: Pedro Lama, Rachel Clemente, Sary Cornel, and José Ramon Tavares. The Book Fair will continue through Monday, May 2.
“We share the need to show a different face of the police. We do our job but we are part of the People and we love the Dominican Republic. We love our country,” P.O. Lama told the Gazette.
