Justice for Asian Women

Hundreds of people gathered last night at the Crossroads to speak out against Asian Hate Crimes. Among those appearing at the event were Governor Kathy Hochul, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Author Min Jin Lee, RISE Founder Amanda Nguyen, and performers Perry Yung, Kate Rigg, Migiwa Miggy Miyajima and Friends. and Bohan Phoenix.

Wednesday was one year since the Atlanta Spa shootings in which eight people were killed, six of whom were women of Asian descent. There’s been an alarming rise in hate crimes targeting Asian women here, and incidents against Asians have soared over the past few years all across the country. Last night’s Times Square gathering was to support the “fight for justice, safety, and peace for us all,” said Min Jin Lee. “We will not be silent.#BreakTheSilence rallies were also held in several other American cities on Wednesday night.
