Two years ago Covid-19 arrived in New York. One of its earliest casualties was the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a Springtime tradition that predates our country’s Declaration of Independence. Its cancellation shocked many New Yorkers, alerting them to the terrible ordeal that was about to unfold.
So it’s return this year was a welcome, and hopeful, sign of the times: could it be that the deadly pandemic is finally behind us? Only time will tell, but on the day when this historic procession resumed its march up 5th Avenue, hopes are high and fingers crossed.
