Out and About in NYC

September 29, 2021

It was a busy first week of Autumn in New York around here! The U.N. General Assembly continued meeting along with our annual Climate Week activities and Global Citizen concert in Central Park.

Additionally, the Columbia Lions went to 2-0 beating Georgetown 35-24 following the season home opener when they blew away Marist by a score of 37-14. Another thing, besides winning, that these two games had in common was free admission for the local community. There was a good crowd on Saturday and the mighty Lions did not disappoint.

A little farther downtown, dell’Arte Opera Ensemble threw an “Aria Throwdown” atop Good Shepherd Hill near Bruce’s Garden.  The free concert featured Flavia Darcie, Robert Colon, Diana Charlop & Geddy Warner with Pablo Zinger, piano performing Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Handel & more.

Even farther d/t, the City’s vax outreach team set up shop at the Museum of Natural History. The vaxx bus was on W207th last week, so we can confirm they do get around! Staffers at both sites assured the Gazette that the $100 incentive is still in effect. For more information on where they’ll be stopping next, click here.

Across the street, Central Park was full of music lovers and Global Citizens. This year’s show included performances by Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Jennifer Lopez, Lizzo, Meek Mill, Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Burna Boy, Cyndi Lauper, Jon Batiste, Lang Lang, and many more.

Waaay downtown at the Museum of American Indian there’s a great show running called “Stretching the Canvas: 8 Decades of Native Painting.” Highly recommended, and free!

Here’s a few snaps of the week in review.
