Paulist Fathers

“With great sadness, we announce that our brother, Paulist Fr. Kevin Aloysius Devine, entered eternal life today, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, March 25, 2021.

“He died of natural causes at the Veterans’ Home in Montrose, NY, aged 90.

“Fr. Kevin had been a priest for nearly 65 years. For 31 of those years, he served with distinction as a U.S. Army chaplain.

“He was born December 23, 1930, in New York City, a son of Edmund and Joan Twomey Devine. He had four brothers: Donal, Patrick, Finbar and Matthew.

“In 1936, when he was six, his family moved to Inwood, then a largely Irish neighborhood at the northern tip of Manhattan. There, he “grew up Paulist” at Church of the Good Shepherd, the parish our missionary society founded and served in Inwood from 1911 to 2006…”

A wake will be held for Fr. Kevin on Friday, April 9, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Riverdale Funeral Home in Inwood.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 10 a.m., at the Church of Good Shepherd in Inwood.

He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on a date to be announced.
