This was the boarded up DSW storefront at W79th and Broadway on Thursday afternoon. A uniformed security guard standing on the corner near a halal cart said that the wood just went up. Asked if it was installed for potential rioting he replied, “rioting? For what? For Trump losing?” and laughed. Inside the warehouse everything appeared normal, with a dozen or so shoppers trying on shoes or just looking around. None of the other storefronts nearby were boarded up.
Vote counting continued late Thursday night in several states that remained too close to call.
