BOLO

Be on the lookout for Joshua Martinez, who police identified as the main suspect in the death of girlfriend Carol Nystrom.

Carol was an Inwood treasure, always cheerily greeting friends and neighbors as she performed her various gigs which included professional dogwalker and take out courier. It was quite a sight to see her leading a mixed pack of dogs of all shapes and sizes around the block. Pups who might have normally carried on as free spirits fell under her spell and marched along with her in almost military formation. She’ll be missed by all, canine and human, who knew her.

The photo of the dog with bad teeth was taken on March 30 last year. It’s a little fellow Carol was carrying around when we bumped into her on Broadway that afternoon after not having seen her for awhile. We were surprised to learn that she’d only just moved a few blocks east, over by Nagle Avenue. We told her we thought she’d moved to Hollywood and she laughed.

The last time we saw her was a couple weeks ago when we passed each other in a crosswalk, she on her bicycle delivering a take out order, both of us masked. But a big smile was still visible in her eyes and her sweet voice sang out, “Hiya, Q!” as she rode by.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.

Martinez is described as Hispanic, about 5-foot-6 and 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey New York Yankees jersey, the Daily News reports.
