Nearly a century ago Charlie Chaplin directed and starred in the classic movie, “Modern Times.” As funny as the film was for viewers, its dark humor hit a bullseye in skewering working conditions of that era.
In one famous scene, an efficiency expert tries to sell a factory owner a newfangled gadget that feeds employees while they continue working. After an hilarious demonstration of the devilishly inept device, the owner passes on the offer – not because it’s incredibly abusive to the workers but because “it isn’t practical.”
We can’t think of a better film to enjoy on this year’s Labor Day. Check it out.
