The pandemic ain’t over until…
If nonstop breaking pandemic news, searching for good information about the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19 itself haven’t ‘planted‘ you yet, the Metropolitan Opera has something special for you: operas on demand that you can stream for free while you isolate at home.
Last night’s show was a 2010 Lincoln Center performance of Das Rheingold and while we couldn’t really follow the plot too well, the music, set, lighting and wardrobe were more than enough to make watching it a very enjoyable couple of hours.
Following the performance there was a very informative ‘the making of’ short documentary that addressed most of the technical questions we had while watching this lavish production. It frankly made us long for the times, like only a month or so ago, when creative people could collaborate on a fabulous project like this without worrying if they’re standing too close to each other. It also reminded us that along with everything else we’ve lost for the time being, losing live theatrical performances really stings.
