January 18, 2020
Thousands of people and millions of snowflakes joined forces in NYC today for the 4th Annual Women’s March. Across the country and around the planet (Hello, Lagos!) the day brought out fewer pussyhats than the first three of these mobilizations, but the energy level was as high as ever. With 2020 being an election year in the USA, many of the signs people carried referenced voting. Immigration and reproductive freedom were also featured themes. Here in the City one contingent of the March gathered in Foley Square amid the swirling snow and strong winds. Others gathered on the Upper West Side and listened to speakers near Columbus Circle before heading down 6th Avenue toward Times Square where both groups were expected to meet.
