Hotter Than a Match Head

July 18, 2019

Hot town, summer in the city. You didn’t have to travel anywhere this week to experience the wonders of Nature in the form of severe weather. We’re still in a heatwave forecast to run through the weekend. Early in the evening yesterday just about suppertime the sky turned dark before opening up and dumping tons of rain on our island. People dived into subway stations and building lobbies, drenched to the bone, seeking shelter from the storm.

Besides a heatwave and the downpour yesterday, t-storms are expected on and off over the next several days and flash flooding is expected to disrupt traffic and inundate low lying areas. All of this is during a week that kicked off with the still unexplained blackout that left midtown west in darkness for hours on Saturday, on the anniversary of the really big 1977 blackout.
