Opening Night Benefit

Special presentation featuring:  Love, Gilda, post screening interview with filmmaker Lisa D’Apolito and original Saturday Night Live writer Alan Zweibel by WNYC’s Brian Lehrer, live stand-up comedy, and delicious food and beverages byIndian Road Café.

Love, Gilda opens a unique window into the honest and whimsical world of beloved performer Gilda Radner, whose greatest role was sharing her story. Working with the Radner estate, director Lisa D’Apolito unearthed a collection of diaries and personal audio and videotapes documenting her childhood, her comedy career, her relationships and ultimately, her struggles with cancer. These never-before-seen-or-heard footage and journal entries form the narrative spine of the documentary, allowing Gilda to tell her own story – through laughter and sometimes tears.
$85 pre-purchase.  $125 day-of, and at the door, if space allows. Tickets can be purchased at www.inwoodartworks.nyc

Ever faced the cold glare of a monitor and realized you should have gone to law school?  Ever waited for the phone to ring and understood why writers have a rep for heavy drinking?   Join us when we drag screenwriters Kent Jones (Emmy, Peabody, The Daily Show, Rachel Maddow), Kevin Katoaka (Hollywood Puppet Show, Totally Biased with Kamau Bell, Dr Katz), Evan Waite (The President Show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Kevin Hart’s Guide to Black History), and Sherese Robinson (ABC Daytime, Prof. Screenwriting, SVA) out from their dank hovels and into the spotlight for a lively conversation about creating compelling stories and empathetic characters, pitching ideas, navigating the writers room, and survival.  Bring your questions – we’re going to give these writers some real work.
