The 5th NYC Bodypainting Day took place on Saturday in Washington Square. According to a news release from event sponsor Human Connection Arts, 50 artists from around the world painted 60 fully nude models of all shapes, ages, and backgrounds in nearly 90 degree weather. Artist and producer Andy Golub explains, “We are creating an environment where everyone feels included. The more people accept themselves, the more they accept each other.”
After 4 hours of live body painting, the group performed a song circle at the Arch, a photo shoot at the Fountain, a march through the public streets and finished off the day with a double-decker bus ride over the Manhattan Bridge.
Bodypainting Day is produced by Human Connection Arts (HCA), a non-profit with the mission of building communities of acceptance and connection through public art events. Next up for HCA is the first Philly Bodypainting Day, taking place on September 8th at the Philly Naked Bike Ride co-presented by Bodypaint.me.
