New York, New York, it’s still a helluva town. On Monday, August 21, Inwood Art Works/Film Works Alfresco will feature On the Town in English with Spanish subtitles. Pre-show begins at 7:45 in Gaelic Field, Inwood Hill Park (soccer field).
“New York, New York, it’s a wonderful town – especially in this classic adaptation of the 1944 Broadway musical, directed and choreographed by Gene Kelley. Featuring Academy Award -winning score by Leonard Bernstein and Roger Edens and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, we follow three sailors (Frank Sinatra, Jules, Munshin, and Gene Kelly) on a day of shore leave in the Big Apple looking for fun and romance before their twenty-four hours are up.”
Founded in 2008 by professional dancer and choreographer Tina Casula Gross, Broadway Performing Arts Center has quickly become a neighborhood mainstay with steadily rising enrollment rosters. Students are introduced to a variety of dance styles including classical ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop, along with signing, performing arts, and gymnastics.
